Professional Garment Dyeing London
We’ll Dye For You
We’ll Dye For You
One of the very few professional garment dyeing services still operating in London — reviving a traditional craft at the request of our customers.
A Rare Skill, Brought Back
Professional garment dyeing has quietly disappeared from most of London’s dry cleaners over the last decade. Many stopped offering it during the pandemic and never brought it back. At American Dry Cleaning Company, we’ve done the opposite.
Our customers asked for it — across our stores in Chelsea, Notting Hill, Mayfair, Wimbledon, Hampstead and beyond — and we listened. We’ve invested in the skills, the equipment, and the expertise to bring professional garment dyeing back properly.
Whether you want to restore a faded favourite, refresh a tired colour, or completely transform a piece into something new, our specialist team is here to help.
What We Can Dye
Our dye service covers a wide range of garments and fabrics, including:
- Dresses and evening wear
- Suits, trousers and jackets
- Jeans and casual wear
- Shirts and blouses
- Knitwear and jumpers (fabric dependent)
- Curtains and soft furnishings
- Wedding dresses — restoration or transformation
- Vintage and heritage pieces
Each garment is individually assessed before any work begins. We examine fabric composition, construction, stitching, linings, trims and fastenings to determine the best approach and give you an honest assessment of the likely result.r

Why Choose a Professional Dye Service?
- Even colour absorption — unlike home dyeing kits, which frequently produce patchy results
- Fabric expertise — we assess your garment before committing, so you know what to expect
- Colour matching — we work to your colour brief, not a limited palette
- Safe for delicate fabrics — including vintage, silk, wool and structured garments
- Better for the planet — extending a garment’s life is almost always greener than replacing it
The Sustainable Choice
Buying new has a cost — financial and environmental. Dyeing a garment you already love is one of the most effective ways to extend its life, reduce textile waste, and keep something special in your wardrobe.
At American Dry Cleaning Company, we’ve been the greener dry cleaner since 1990. Our dye service is a natural extension of that commitment — helping your clothes live longer, look better, and cost less to replace.

Frequently Asked Questions
Natural fibres such as cotton, linen, silk and wool respond best to dyeing. Synthetic fabrics including polyester and nylon are more challenging and may not take dye evenly. We will always assess your garment first and advise honestly on the likely outcome
Dyeing works by adding colour, not removing it. We can dye a light garment darker, but we cannot dye a dark garment lighter without a separate bleaching or stripping process. Speak to our team for advice on your specific piece.
We work to your colour brief and can match a wide range of shades. Some colours are easier to achieve than others depending on the starting colour of your garment. Our team will advise during the assessment.
We assess all fastenings, linings and trims before dyeing. Where necessary we will advise you on the likely effect on non-fabric elements. In some cases trims may need to be removed and replaced.
Turnaround times vary depending on the garment and the complexity of the dye process. Our team will give you a time estimate at the point of assessment.
Pricing depends on the garment type, fabric, and complexity. Ask in any of our 35 London stores for a no-obligation quote.
